Chapter 14: Tailing 2
TL: flarewk
Linze, who was clinging by the electrical pole, saw Xu Yanyan seemingly planning to walk home.
It seemed that her family circumstances weren't anything much, and as for how Linze had managed to deduce that, it was because Xu Yanyan didn't board upon any kind of luxury sedan.
While at the same time, Linze's mind suddenly garnered a certain amount of sympathy for Xu Yanyan. Looks like Xu Yanyan was just the same as his sister Linling, both being born in average families.
To be studying at such an aristocratic school, it's been too hard on her already.
Seeing Xu Yanyan walking far off in the distance, Linze immediately went on following behind her carefully.
But he dared not approach too close to Xu Yanyan, lest risking being discovered by her.
Halfway through the journey, there seemed to be a couple of sedans temporarily halting over when passing by Xu Yanyan, with them winding down their windows, seemingly intending to provide Xu Yanyan a ride back.
But they were all seemingly declined by Xu Yanyan, as she didn't board onto any of those sedans.
What made Linze most mindful was a certain male middle school student amongst them, who looked to be rather handsome and energetic.
Plus, his head seemed to be rather high up; Linze felt that this male student's stature was almost as tall as him.
He too generously invited Xu Yanyan, but was immediately declined by her.
As for the rest of the people who had invited Xu Yanyan, they mostly seemed to be girls.
Looking at this from an angle, Linze felt that Xu Yanyan's popularity doesn't seem to be that bad. As otherwise, there wouldn't be that much people approaching to invite her.
When walking past【Dulwich】's school gates, Linze felt that it was actually his greatest hurdle.
As quite a number of students from【Dulwich】were Xu Yanyan's classmates, or perhaps that should his actions seem to be slightly more suspicious, it would result onto the questioning by the school's security.
Of course, other than the school's security, Linze wouldn't be surprised if there was black tux donning bodyguards appearing as well.
For this place was【Dulwich】after all, and quite a number of people studying here came from wealthy backgrounds. It wouldn't be anything surprising to have a couple of bodyguards working as chauffeurs present to guarantee onto their safety.
As it stood, there weren't any mishaps occurring, and Linze's tailing of Xu Yanyan went on extremely smoothly.
At that moment, Linze then completely became relieved, for he thought that the moment of his greatest hurdle was already over.
Notwithstanding that the main road where Xu Yanyan was walking were those kinds where large volumes of people thronged about, and to such a stalker like him, it was in fact a piece of good news.
There weren't much crowds by the main road, so as long as he acted normal, it wouldn't bring about their suspicion.
Secondly, those crowds of people were a form of concealment too, they would be able to cover up his tracks up till a certain extent.
Of course, looking at the worst outcome of the situation, if Linze was to be discovered by Xu Yanyan, he could also use an excuse which was somewhat like【he was here to browse around these streets】.
But perhaps Linze's tailing skills weren't that bad, or maybe it was due to Xu Yanyan's sense of cautiousness not being that heavy, for in overall, Linze's stalking was extremely successful.
It was a journey full of fear but no surprises, though Linze along the way encountered upon loud enquiries of directions from a passerby; it was fortunate that he hastily dragged that passerby aside, hence Xu Yanyan wasn't able to notice anything.
Very quickly, after walking a distance uphill, Linze followed Xu Yanyan to a rather quiet pathway.
The sides of the pathway had plenty of trees and vegetation planted; there's two gardeners who were packing up their tools, they seemed to have just finished their gardening and were planning to knock off from work.
Linze had never went along this pathway before, yet he somewhat recalled what place the end of this pathway was.
He had once heard from his good friend, that the end of this pathway seemed to be leading towards an extremely high-class private set of estates.
Those extremely high-class private estates wouldn't be easily opened up towards outsiders, even if it's their friends, as it's required for them to obtain access rights from the residents inside before being able to enter.
Linze of course wouldn't have a friend with such a status, hence had never came to this sort of place.
Although it wasn't that he had never went past this area in the past, it's just that Linze had never went inside of this pathway before.
Don't tell me that Xu Yanyan lives over here.
Linze gave off a slightly shocked expression.
It can't be, Xu Yanyan is actually a daughter from a wealthy family?
As this pathway was spacious without any smoke around, coupled with there weren't any suitable cover to conceal his body shape, Linze hence didn't dare on approaching that closely towards Xu Yanyan, merely squatting behind a certain trashcan by the pathway at a far distance away, slightly tilting up his head looking towards Xu Yanyan's figure.
Xu Yanyan at that moment trailed by the left side of the pathway walking, and very quickly followed along the hugely curved uphill path, vanishing from sight.
Seeing such an opportunity, Linze instantly sprung out from behind the trashcan, and unhesitatingly chased after her.
Linze's bizarre actions naturally grabbed the attention of the two gardeners packing up their tools by the roadside, but they merely gave a glance towards Linze, not saying nor doing anything at all.
After dashing not too far ahead, Linze saw that the current Xu Yanyan was already standing by the entrance point of the estate region.
The entrance point only had a gate allowing car access, but that black artistic metal gate was currently being tightly shut.
This particular area of estates didn't seem to utilize those electrical car stopping boom gates employed in normal communities, instead using a primitive push-to-open door.
A small artistic metal door was by the left side of the gates, and behind that sentry door, a security guard stood watch.
That security guard appeared to be an ex-service army personnel; his standing posture was extremely immaculate.
Xu Yanyan pressed her left thumb on the fingerprint scanner which was built on the artistic metal gate, it automatically opened.
Next, Xu Yanyan walked inside its confines, followed by the metal door automatically closing afterwards.
And as for that security officer, he was seemingly like a statue as he hadn't moved at all from the start till the end.
Seeing as such, after a moment's hesitation Linze slowly walked towards the entrance route of the estate region.
Through the gaps of the artistic metal gates, Linze was able to see the beautiful scenery of the estates interior.
After all, it's a place where the rich lived. He felt that the crappy, self-built house where he stayed couldn't even be used as a comparison against it.
Looking at the security behind the doors, Linze felt that its better not for him to continue his tailing, as it wouldn't be a good thing to draw trouble towards himself.
Just when Linze was about to turn around and leave, a hand stretched out, tapping towards his shoulders.
During Linze's 8th grader syndrome period in the past, his dream was to be a『Hero of Justice』, and in order to unearth his inner potential, after watching a couple of anime works, Linze was naturally inspired into carrying out a couple of rather lame training; signing up for Jeet Kune Do classes was of course one of them.
Although Linze felt that the【3-minute passionate】him didn't manage to learn onto any useful skills at all, under those training sessions accompanied with his fellow apprentices, he managed to train up instinctive reactions against grabbing gestures.
Seemingly instinctively, Linze instantly dodged towards his left, hence avoiding such a grab.
「Hm? Looks like you do have some skill.」
Linze looked towards his back, to see that there were two men dressed in security outfits already standing behind him.
Glossary:
3 minute passion = used to describe someone with adrenaline-lived (short term) interest towards something.
